What time are we meeting?

Around 11:00 I'm thinking.........However I'll be there earlier I'm sure.   Just send me a PM if you want to be out there earlier and let me know what time.

If anyone needs directions to the graveyard from Rubio Woods Forest Preserve be sure to let me know.

Always remember.........Just because you have never seen something, does not mean that something does not exist.

Thank you for those of you that showed up today, we got quite a bit done.  We filled dozens of bags full of trash, plus it looks like we might get the forest preserve people to do the rest.

Thanks again for all that helped  bo

Great Job everyone.....I am so proud of what you guys did.  I again have to apologize for not being able to be there but I was doing other volunteer works for the day.  I was working a health fair that was doing free testings for the community

Good Show you guys. You should be very proud. Sorry I couldn't make it. My most humble apologies. I am just way too far away and not enough gas $ too.  emb

That picture says it all Ghost we filled up more bags this go round than the last cleanup
according to Pete. If we go back in a month like Pete was saying we can get the trail finished and all the junk will be gone. ;)

The cleanup SHOULD be a seasonal thing, at least.  Once or twice every season.

I think you are right and a couple of time is a very good idea. If any of us should go there for a visit we should bring a bag with us and pick up stuff we see too!

Well, it appears that the forest preserve people followed through with what I was told........I went out there today, and EVERY fallen tree had been removed from the grave yard!!   :victory:

Every single tree is gone, even the huge ones.  I'll post some pic's in a bit.

Can you pull some strings and get them to retrive the stones at the bottom of the moat Qu

Nice job, everyone.  Excellent!   =D>

Is there a thread or post somewhere with info about how the trip went, what you found, how the grounds were, etc.? I've read all the posts in this one, and it sounds like it was a mess with dread shrubs and trees.  How's the pond/moat thingie?  Any stories?

Not really much else to tell...... We picked up trash from inside and outside the graveyard including the long path to the graveyard and the path west of the graveyard.  We filled about 2 dozen garbage bags, with everything from beer cans and bottles to hubcaps and even license plates.

We didn't do anything at all with the broken and knocked over stones (yet) As for the lagoon, we picked up ton's of trash around it.

We had quite a few people there on and off through out the entire day......It was a pretty good turn out, not really as much as I hoped for but sill very good.

The Forest Preserve workers came out about a week later and removed ALL the fallen trees from the entire graveyard including the fence & tombstones .   All in all it's 100% better.   :victory:  But we aren't done yet!

Here is a before and after to the left of the front gate as you enter:

Here is the piles that the Forest Preserve workers removed:
