Pics from Colorado Trip :)
« on: Jul 04 2009 - 08:25AM »
Hi all!
Here are a 'few' pictures from my trip last week to Colorado.  It was wonderful, as always.  The elk seemed a lot less bothered by people this time around, which was strange, but good for me  :camera:

Pretty storm rolling in the night we got there...

A chipmunk getting divebombed (over and over again) by a hummingbird.  See blurry bird in upper left corner while the poor chipmunk wonders why I am not putting a stop to all this madness...

Probably my favorite picture from the trip, this guy was just incredible!

A mule deer, having a pee!  I have issues.

Pretty!

Marmots sunbathing.

Pretty!

Wolf in the meadow...

The only big horned sheep we saw.

Marmot!

Resting Herd.

Look at the poor trees.  There is a pine bark beetle that is killing them, and it's not getting cold enough in the winter to kill the larvae :(

Hidden Valley.

Awesome.

So close I could smell her!

Frolicing teens...

The herd in the morning :)

Pretty!

The remains of the home of EnosMills, the 'father of the Rocky Mountain National Park'  I can't imagine why he chose this spot... :)

It's just great, I love it there so much!  I want to look into what it takes to be a park ranger, although I highly doubt I would just be able to say 'hey, hook me up in Estes, yah?'  I will live there someday :)

From what I understand it is a good job but don`t pay a lot. You should be able to get a job like that as they have openings from time to time. I think there is a web site that posts jobs like that so hope maybe your dream will come through.  che

I don't think I'd give a hoot about the pay if I got to wake up to that view every day.  Taking care of the park, giving nature talks to little kids, heck, even sitting in a little booth taking fees from visitors?  I'd do that for $4.25 and hour, though please don't tell em that!

All the rangers feel that way it`s not for the money but for the beauty and the whole nature experience. If you get lucky the park Supt. gets a free place to live now that ain`t bad at all.  =D>

Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!!  I've never been to Colorado, but I would definitely go for those views.  What part of Colorado were you in exactly?

Thank you!

Those were taken in Estes Park.  As an extra added bonus, Estes Park is also where the famously haunted Stanley Hotel is :)
