That is a beautiful picture! I am assuming that you used a telephoto lens?

Thankyou and yes I did use a telephoto lens to get this picture. I took a series of shots untill I get reasonably close as he was sitting on a stump and the only thing between us was a chain link fence.

Gorgeous picture Aten! Hope you don't mind that I copied it. I just love birds. I even pulled over on the side of the road to try n get a pic of an ugly old vulture the other day. I only had a camera phone tho so I was amazed that he was going to let me get close enough to him to take the photo. I was right up to him...so close that I was afraid he might decide to eat me since I was between him and the roadkill that he was tryin to get to. I raised the phone and looked at the pic I was about to take.....he didn't like that and he pulled his wings up around his head as though he were haunching his shoulders up in fury! Then his wings began to spread open and they were HUGE!!! I'm telling you they were HUGE!!! And beautiful!!! For one second I thought what a beautiful picture this is going to be! Of course my heart was racing as I hit the end button instead of the snapshot button and the picture just went away as the huge gust of wind blew my hair back and the vulture took flight and was gone faster than I could blink an eye. Bummer.

Shame you did`nt get the pic Colleen. It`s ok you copied my pic of the hawk. You are lucky with that vulture! I read that they will regurgitate the food they ate to get away from anything that disturbs them.
