Matrexing or Pareidolia

Explanation of Matrexing or Pareidolia.

A psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random  stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant.  Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the  man in the moon or the Moon rabbit, and even faces in tress and bushes.

There is a scientific explanation for this phenomenon.

From birth the human brain is wired to recognize faces. Your mother  (usually) is the first face you will come to recognize. Now follow  this theory into the paranormal such as faces in tress and bushes, or face's in ORB'S or smoke / mist.......

Carl Sagan hypothesized that as a survival technique, human beings are "hardwired" from birth to  identify the human face.  This allows people to use only minimal details to recognize faces from a  distance and in poor visibility but can also lead them to interpret  random images or patterns of light and shade as being faces.  The evolutionary advantages of being able to identify friend from foe  with split-second accuracy are numerous; prehistoric (and even modern)  men and women who accidentally identify an enemy as a friend could face  deadly consequences for this mistake. This is only one among many  evolutionary pressures responsible for the development of the facial  recognition capability of modern humans.

So to sum this up, if you see a face in a tree, bush, in the dirt or even faces on tombstones you can be assured that about 99.9% of the time ...It's nothing more then a tree, bush or a plain old pile of dirt or a dusty tombstone.

You mean we can't believe our eyes?  :41: :41:

You tell people about this and they think you are the crazy one, because they've seen it with their own eyes.
There is no such thing as ghosts. They are flying saucer aliens, using their cloak of invisibility to screw with our minds.

Very informative post ghost, and thanks for posting it.  On so many sites now of days you see pictures that have circles and or arrows pointing to ... well pretty much nothing?   Enough is enough people, some times a bush with a face on it is nothing more then a "Bush" with leaves that look like a face.  It's not a freaking bush ghost or a tree monster! :giggle2:
