Title: Best way to end a haunting??
Post by: ghostlight on Jul 07 2008 - 06:28PM
What do you think is the best way to end a haunting and why? There are Catholic blessings and of course excorcisms, Native American Sage smudging, pagan blessings, burying artifacts on the property, having a medium "send" the spirit, and many other methods. Do they all work? Does one method work better than another depending on the circumstances? Does it have anything to do with religion? What do you all think?

Honestly, most of the time the ghost is confused or is hanging around because it doesn't realize it's dead. If you simply speak to the entity and tell it that this is no longer it's place, it's necessary for it to move on and be at peace, that's usually the best.

Obviously if you get a violent spirit, or a demon, or something that doesn't want to move on, then you'll need to bring in some heavy hitters, but other than that it should just be as simple as possible.

I completely agree with you Exzyle2k. Of course I am no expert on the subject and I haven't even had to deal with a spirit in many years. I have had what I believe to be angels or spirits visit me in my dreams but I haven't had any kind of haunting or episode since I was very young. It's just that with everything that I have read or seen on tv or researched in any way tells me that you are correct. Not to mention that is also what I believe in my heart. For whatever that's worth.  emb

I also agree.  However, in my dealings, I generally perform a smudging in order to make sure that any psychic traces of the departed have been eliminated, to ensure the passage has been completed.

If you are dealing with something other than a general spirit, then it is MUCH more aggressive, and I have always felt it to be thorough to perform a bit of something from varying religions to ensure that all bases are covered for all parties involved.  :)

This may actually be a bit harder than you would think.  Typically, you'd have the best luck within the confines of the Catholic church.  :)
