This is the creepiest playground I have ever seen in my life, or it's the best playground every for future paranormal investigators? kn
Rhinebeck Reformed Church Cemetery, Rhinebeck NY

Wow, that is amazing! Where did you find those pics? Do you have any more info about this playground? Where it's located? Why they built the playground there?
-
You know... From the fact that there's headstones surrounding the playground, I would assume it was put there to give the children of visiting family members something to do while their parents paid their respects.
The fact that there are stones actually WITHIN the playground is a little odd though. Especially the two right next to the slide in the first pic.

It was sent to me so I don't have to much info. It is said to be a playground in back of a old church, between the church and the graveyard. Look in pic two and you can see the graveyard in the back.

It reminds me of where I went to elementary school as a kid. The school playground shared a fence with an old cemetery. I remember that adults would comment on it thinking it was weird but I don't think it ever once bothered any of us kids. I still go to that cemetery a few times a year, one of my favorites! A few years ago they moved the playground to the other side of the school and now the cemetery shares a fence with teacher parking. Shame, I never thought of taking a pic of it before.

Even with the story now, it's still insane. WTH is wrong with those people? :wee_hee:

thats pretty incredible to have the proximity like that of the two types of activities... cho

Well, people who go into cemeteries and graveyards are actually the minority. There's a stigma against it. Whether people don't want to face death, have superstitions, or whatever the reason, I can understand the church wanting to acclimate people to a part of existence not normally given much thought.
Bravo to them. I'm just glad they didn't position the slide between two stones.. That would have been a bad move.

I wonder what this place is like at night? Has there been any ghosts sightings etc? Imagine if the toy trucks started moving on their own... Maybe it's a sign that no matter if you are alive, or dead, you must never stop playing!!
-
I'm fairly sure there's activity there, but due to the fact it's right on a street in a dense suburban area, there's probably not a lot of interest in investigating. Too many external variables, lights and sounds and the like.
Plus I'm pretty sure the spirits are content that the land is being used to bring a little sliver of joy to the kids, even if it's only for 5 minutes after church or whatever.
As an added bonus, this is post #300!!!! da da da

Great pics and post

It's a shame we can't take an afternoon road trip here. I would love to see it!
-
If you ever want to take a road trip there let me know, I am up for it! Would definitely be longer than an afternoon trip, though.
-
I would be up for it too... but it's too far :^(

Now the thought of those kids digging in the sand box.........!!! Qu

The people who did that are retarded! What a joke.
I like that person's comment though on the link: "Have we learned nothing from "Poltergiest?" Hee!
Reminds me though of a place kind of near me as well. Its an old church that somebody has made into a home. Anyway, there is a very small cemetery in the back yard, but it seems to be all fenced in from what I could tell from the road. There is a deck and if I recall correctly, seemed to be a childrens play area with toys and stuff all around, but not in the actuall cemetery part. Seems like they always had some sort of NASCAR flags displayed as well. I do not go by there much any more and I always wanted to actually go and ask the owners about the history. Everytime I went by there I was like dang that place rules! I wish I had a cemetery in my backyard. That's my dream house. Ha!
I suppose if I really did some digging and had more time, I could find out more about it and share it with you all.
From what I could tell though, I think the owners have been respectful to the cemetery.

Can you go back and snap some pics?

I think it is wrong to disturb those that have passed on
-
I would love to go back and get some pics, right now I do not have a digital cam, or a scanner. I am working on it though bodhisattva. I am a little behind the times right now.
But yes I want to do some digging on the place I mention anyway, so maybe there might already be a pic online. If I find out anything, I definatley will let you all know.
It is wrong to disturb the dead for sure. Although, it goes on all the time in some way shape or form.
