The discovery of a strange creature in Cerro Azul, Panama, sparked controversy among the people, for what some say might be a creature from another planet, others simply believe that it si just an animal. Two young men were having fun on the hill when they saw at the entrance of a cave a creature that was approaching them. They were frightened and stoned it to death. Panama’s  Channel 13 showed images of a strange creature that appeared last weekend in Cerro Azul, east of Panama City, and that alarmed local residents. According to Telemetro, polemic unleashed between those who believe it is an animal and those who think it’s an extraterrestrial creature. No authority said anything about the find. Telemetro said four children, aged between 15 and 16 , saw the “thing” out of the water fall of Cerro Azul and stoned it to death, afraid of being attacked.

The eye looks like it's the same material as the skin around it, rubber body maybe?

Everything I'm seeing about this say it's a sloth.

Most likely it was killed and then shaved or given a lye-bath to remove the hair by some putz or three trying to make a quick buck.

Going to have to agree with the sloth theory.  The front foot has one mammoth claw in the front, much like a tree sloth.  The shape of the head also suggests it's just a hairless sloth.

For a large part of my adult life I was a circus sideshow performer (I still do it a time or two a year).  Besides the show we, also, had a few tables set up with gaffed creatures that we would call real.  It always amused me how people would believe these things that they saw as real.  We had things like "chupacabra, furry fish, jackelope, tiny elephant, mermaid, fossilized fairy" and other things that I am just blanking on.  This thing reminds me a lot of some of those bogus things we had
