A TOWN in South America is living in fear after several sightings of a 'creepy gnome' that locals claim stalks the streets at night.
The midget - which wears a pointy hat and has a distinctive sideways walk - was caught on video last week by a terrified group of youngsters. Teenager Jose Alvarez - who filmed the gnome - yesterday told national newspaper El Tribuno that they caught the creature while larking about in their hometown of General Guemes, in the province of Salta, Argentina. He said: “We were chatting about our last fishing trip. It was one in the morning. “I began to film a bit with my mobile phone while the others were chatting and joking. "Suddenly we heard something - a weird noise as if someone was throwing stones. "We looked to one side and saw that the grass was moving. To begin with we thought it was a dog but when we saw this gnome-like figure begin to emerge we were really afraid."
Jose added that other locals had come forward to say they had spotted the gnome. He said: “This is no joke. We are still afraid to go out - just like everyone else in the neighbourhood now. "One of my friends was so scared after seeing that thing that we had to take him to the hospital

LOL....I was thinking it was just the Travelocity gnome checking out vacations spots for us. Seriously I am not sure what to think about that video.
-
Ah Ghost1 you did it again. You read my mind. I was thinking that same exact thing. Also thought it might actually be that it might be the Travelocity Gnome. LOL Freaky a** video though for sure.
-
UPDATE..................Another gnome is sighted! Now this is getting weird, what the heck could this all be about? cho
Another "gnome" video, this time showing a tiny humanoid darting across the back of a room.

wow holy crap i jumped

That was wierd!! It was there the entire time and they just didn't notice it till it got up and took off. ter ter
-
WTH.......that was crazy!!!! What was that?
-
Now that is weird, that thing is just standing against that back wall and doesn't move till that kid gets near it? What the heck could that be, way to small for a midget and I can't think of any other explanation? ter

I have seen a couple of other Latin American videos on youtube with similar creatures. Whats up with that?

I've wondered the very same thing Ghostlight.
-
Better late than never! I have our answer Colleen! The reason we see a lot of gnome videos from Latin America is because it is a huge part of their culture! They call them "duendes". Who knew?! wh

OMG. Caught this hidden fellow running away. A couple in the woods but I only captured one. Gnome sighting is a pleasure and kinda touching. Think I'll call him Borat.
I don't know if it's real or not but it sure is cute. LOL

Wow, now that is odd....so very clear, could this be real?

That seemed like it could've been filmed from very high up, looked like a child maybe. Then again......

For original post, The Sun is a British rag. It's a hoax, I'm afraid --> http://www.snopes.com/photos/odd/gnome.asp
-
Well we have always figured that it was a hoax but this is the place were we don't shrug off much. I would hate to catch something extraordinary only to have it ignored bcause it fit some kind of profile or mold. But this one video here went either way with me. It's in a park were there are kids so yeah the first thing you think is that it's a little kid in his play suite. But then you try and give the poster the bennifit of a doubt and he says there were 2 but he only captures 1. In the end ...I do agree that it is more than likely a hoax and 99% of my brain knows it. It's just that 1% that is still full of wonder at the universe and that's what makes it fun. :^:
-
OH Yeah! I forgot! Thanks for the link Nothing2c! It's good to know what the rest of the world is thinking! :Y:

Coleen: I in fact AM on a string! LOL
All Gnomes are scary to me! LOL Did anybody see that episode of King of the Hill with the Gnome? Funny stuff.

I've been gone a bit, sorry. Soooo busy! So, this is a bit old for a reply, but just real quick, I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to one-up them or anything. I just figure that when something is confirmed to be a hoax, I'd like to know so that I can move on to other things we can check out. I do enjoy this stuff, and I'm a true believer. But if I know something is a hoax and can point to proof, I thought it was good to post that. Is that ok? Lemme know if that's not ok. No offense intended, guys!

I don't quite follow what you are saying? Do you know this is a hoax, or are you asking if it is............
We also want to know if things are hoaxes or debunked, so that we can update a post.

Ghost1.....If you go to the link that "Nothing2chere" provided in a few replies back. It states that one of the first and most compelling of the videos is "believed" to be a hoax because of the fact that there seemed to be 2 different camera phone videos of the same fleeting incident....AND....the fact that the only newspaper able to find these "scared to death" residents of the community was the tabloid "Sun Times". In no way does the article give any hard core facts either way. It is still unknown as to whether or not the camera phone video was authentic but it resembles other videos involved in hoax's.
Also the latest video posted here was not even referred to in the article for which the link was supplied.

I was actually saying that it's a confirmed hoax per snopes (I tend to go with whatever snopes says). Was not asking if it was a hoax.

Man, that's crazy. I have a whole bunch of lawn gnomes in my room, now I'm afraid they're gonna come alive and eat me. D:

I found this humorous. :D

The video will load and load but nothing happens, it never starts. Anyone else have that problem. Gnomes... I have never been afraid of and when I was little I always wanted to meet one and I have always wanted a lawn for my garden.
-
Was able to view the video and hate to say but I think that is no gnome but a person pulling some sort of hoax. Still I love these kind of stories. They are fun. Amusing.
-
Since a little boy, I was terrified of midgets. Finally, after 17 years I finally broke that fear, and this just brought it right back.
-
gnomes creep me out

The one outside shuffling across the grass into the road is bigger than the one in the room.
Munckins from the land of OZ, maybe???
I would have gone up to them to see what they were.
