I can't really say that I miss the 80's per say. I "hated" the clothes with a passion. I was a dancer but I didn't really like all of the tiger stuff with the rips in it so I always had to pay for my outfits to be made and it was a pain. But I do miss being young.....LOL
I will never forget the very first time I ever saw Boy George in a video. I had heard his songs but wasn't sure if it was a girls singing or a guy. I was watching MTV one day and one of his songs came on and I thought I would sit and watch it and find out if he was male or female....LOL I was even more confused than ever!! I had NEVER seen a transvestite before and I didn't know that he was gay or anything. I began asking my friends if he was a girl or a boy and not many of them were absolutely sure but a handful of them would laugh and say ....."he's a guy....but he just likes to dress like a girl" and I was like ....."he wears makeup!" It wasn't long before he was everywere and so were ppl being openly gay.....and transvestites were on TV a lot after that. It just kind of became cool to be gay suddenly......LOL And now....well everybody's gay.....LOL And in my opinion they owe a lot to Boy George for coming out in public and just being himself. But I will never forget the first time that I ever saw him on a video ...... and not many things are that memorable for me. LOL
Now to share with you one of my favorite 80"s videos of all time.
MICHAEL JACKSON IN "SMOOTH CRIMINAL"
-
How can we do a tribute to the 80"s without including this one. For those too young to have seen it....here it is..... one of the all time greatest videos ever.
MICHAEL JACKSON'S "THRILLER"

MICHAEL JACKSON'S "THRILLER"
This was one of the best videos every made in my opinion :Y:

Regardless of what Micheal Jackson has or has not done in this past decade.....which by the way I haven't seen any proof that he's done anything other than be different and strange and make some very BAD decisions. It looks bad for him ....but since I have been on the wrong end of that boat a time or two I'm sticking with that old thing of someone being innocent until PROVEN guilty. He is an artist and they tend to be kind of different from the real world anyway but then with all that money and fame at such an early age too! Maybe he is a bad person and maybe he isn't ....... I don't want to debate that issue cause I do not know him. I'm just saying that the early eighties practically belonged to him in the music world. And then in the 90's he and Lisa Marie Presley made one of the most beautiful recordings musically as well as Video that I have ever heard or seen. Well I'm just saying that he is a very talented person.

Oh-my-god, more from the 80's...........
We recently discovered a few vintage videos of Dancin' Kim and her Totally Rad Dances. These amazing dance videos have not been seen in over 20 years! In this video, Dancin' Kim shows us how to dance just like in the new Michael Jackson Thriller video! Too cool!

Yes, that episode was great, they had Chris walk right into the song just like he belongs there!
Also yes to SurvivorMAN comment too, that was a very cool cutting-edge back then. To have a person just turn into a drawing was very cool!

UH-OH You guys may have started something now. If you were around me for very long in the early 90's you would have heard all of Tesla and GNR. I'm pretty sure that my ultra conservative ex would list Axle some place on the list of reasons for our divorce..LOL I could tell you more.....about the night that Axle helped celebrate my birthday on the square in Memphis but I don't remember most of it. I do love Axle Rose and GNR.... however.... even though "Sweet Child O Mine" is way up there on the fav list my all time favorite was his remake of Bob Dillon's "Knocking On Heaven's Door." But then I may be a couple years older than you guys cause I remember the 70's as much as I do the 80's and "Knocking On Heaven's Door" was a great song and still very popular in the 70's. By the early 90's a lot of younger ppl had never heard of it and were blown away by it when GNR did it. The rest of us were just in awe that he did such a great job of the remake. Oh yeah....and Slash rules still.

Colleen,
I also love GNR, saw them in concert twice....oh yeah I also remember the 70's very well. Actually, I think we are the same age. GNR's version ofI knocking on heaven's door is great but I really love to hear Bob Dylan sing it

Yeah Dillon is the man. A true poet. There may never be another like him. Jim Morrison is another truly inspired poet. Although rumors of his connection to Alister Crowley and his own rants on being possessed by indian spirits and meeting the devil (who supposedly gave him his lyrics) have dampened his reputation and put an eerie slant to the meanings of his lyrics.
OH yeah.....we can't leave out that guy that wrote "American Pie". Talk about abstract! I can't remember his name but what a song! My ex used to write in the abstract and I find that amazing. I'm like an open book pretty much what you see is what you get but there are ppl who practically live their life in the abstract. It's amazing to me.
