Should we start to plan our next trip already, since it sounds like so many couldn't make the last one? How does that sound to all of you?
-
That's sounds fine to me but I know that I need a month to plan a trip. I think that is the only way that my uncle is going to let me get away from the business. If I put in a notice a month ahead then at least he would have to have a darn good reason to veto it. Of course you guys don't have to wait on me but maybe we could start talking about something in the month of Sept. even if y'all do something in between now and then. And I love September anyway. It will be getting a little cooler out and the leaves will just be starting to turn colors. But the next time we will have to help Ghost out with the eats and such.

Is your husband touring with his band?
-
Let's try to make it for August 16th. or 23rd.
-
Hrmm... 16th would work for me, 23rd wouldn't... Big corporate event that weekend...
I'd honestly like to wait until towards the back end of September for the next meet n greet... Give over a month's notice for those who would need to request time off or arrange travel plans, and the weather should be averaging lower temps, plus less bugs and less vegetation to bushwhack through.
-
Well now I don't know what I'll be doing in August. Just got the news that my best friend from junior high on was diognosed with breast cancer and will go into the hospital this coming tue. for a mastectomy. She has lots of ppl to care for her but I will hopefully be logging in some hours to help out or just keep her company if she needs me to. I would think that by the end of September she should be thru the worst of it and maybe I could make it then if you guys wait till then but if it's not convenient then I don't want anyone to put off an August hunt bcause of waiting on me. I have not made the last 2 even with my best efforts. Apparently I am not too reliable... :V:

Colleeen - I am so sorry to hear the news of your friend :^( My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

Eh... he doesn't tour anymore... not since I was about 6 months along with our little one. Now he just does "local shows." LOL

Thank you Tommyboy. And everyone else that has been concerned. I am going to post a bulletin about how she is doing if that's ok with Ghost1.
-
So when are we gonna do another BGC trip?
-
Should we pursue this trip? If so we need to start to try to get a date setup...........Who would be interested in going, and what weekends in September is good for each of you?
Would anyone like to volunteer to coordinate this trip?
-
Ghost I am sorry to say September is not a good month for me... :^( . I had so much fun last time but I think I am going to have to miss this one. I hope you get a good turnout thought.
-
I'm in contact with a member of the Friends of the Forest Preserve (www.fotfp.org) regarding what, if any, plans there are to establish caretakers for Bachelor's Grove.
The lady I'm in contact with seems excited about the possibility, so hopefully the next trip can be a combo meet n greet and clean up.
I'll post more as I know it.

I am gonna be heartbroken if I make it to this one and still don't get to meet you Gina but I know that you have already been to a couple of these that I couldn't make it to. Sept. seemed a long way off the other day but I swear lately time is just rolling by! I work and work and never get enough sleep and yet it seems like I don't get ANYTHING done!! It seems that my Karma is that as I get older I will stand in one spot and turn around and around and around so that I'm always moving but never getting any place... LOL What kind of symbolism is that...LOL ;)

Any weekend is good with me.
-
WELCOME BACK TOMMYBOY!
-
Thanks. Let's do this trip...
-
I can help coordinate the trip. We should have it as a pot luck too. BYO Whatever.
Which reminds me, does anybody remember the name of the black lady that was buried by Al Capone that's just outside of the BGC gates?

I'm so excited! I really want to meet you guys! And, of course, head back to BG! One word of warning, if we go to cleanup, I need to sit a lot and can't do a lot of bending/lifting (damn Fibromyalgia). :V: But I will do as much as I can!
I work every weekend from 10a-12p. Anytime after that is great for me. Saturdays are better than Sundays. Well, that's MY schedule! Tommyboy, if you need any help coordinating, give me a hollar. I'd be glad to help.

Oh dear, we have another fibromyalgia sufferer?? Hugs to you (but not too tightly!!).
-
It's so nice to find people who understand. Isn't it? Light hugs back at ya!
-
Yeah,It's cool Marion. Do whatever you can. If you can't, then you can't.

Thank you, Tommyboy. I will do whatever I can!

I'm not sure what anyone else's thoughts are, but maybe we can shoot for the first Sunday in October, which would be the 5th...
I know there's a lot of hooplah about going to the Grove in October, but since it's a daytime trip, and if we coordinate with the Forest Preserve beforehand and let them know our intent to help clean up the grove, I doubt there will be problems.
Thoughts?
-
I might be able to. However, I won't be able to be out there until about 1p. Are you going to contact the forest preserve?
-
If there is enough interest and enough commitment to this date, then I will gladly give them a call and see what we need to do.
Depending on the attendees, we could bring rakes, trash bags, etc for small stuff, and if Ghost's chainsaws are still as hungry as he said they were, I'm sure we could rip through the fallen trees with little trouble.
-
If we get enough people, I'll do it.
-
HEY! Don't the Forest Perserve cops screw with folks if they're in BGC in the month of October?
-
That's what I heard too, Tommyboy. But Exzyle2k seems confident that his contacts with the Forest Preserve will be enough.
-
The Forest Preserve cops can screw with us all they way. However, if the sun is in the sky above the trees, there's little they can do other than harass us. And if they're going to be back there running their mouths at us, they might as well help haul out the bags of trash.
If I don't hear from the Friends of the Forest Preserve contact by the middle to end of next week, I'll make some phone calls... I'd do so sooner, but I've got an inventory to do at my job, then I go in for a spot of surgery. So it'll have to wait.
Besides... If we're trying to improve the Grove rather than desecrate it further, the cops might be caught off guard.

Last week, some friends & I went to Rubio woods with my accoustic guitars & started jamming away & the flat-footers came by to check us out. They were friendly & cool but as he left I asked him about BGC because my friends had never been there. He said that the park closes at sunset & that he had never seen anything before himself. He went on to say that he has been in there 100s of times & that most folks that go there at night are there just to party & vandalize. So, I guess that's the official word BUT my son has been in trouble over here & I asked his Youth Officer & he said that the parks close at midnight.
Things that make you go HHMMMMMMMMM..................... sere

I walked past the BGC pond today. I didn't see anything but the F.P. police starring at me. gri

So they let you in? I am planning on going on the 18th. Think this will be a problem?? (never been..)

The police were across the street at Rubio.
