Title: 10-11-08 Graue Mill's Trip
Post by: Marion76 on Sep 04 2008 - 04:53PM
I grew up a few blocks away from Graue Mill. When I got married last October, we had our wedding pictures taken there. I didn't notice any ghosts in the pics though.  LOL Anyway, Graue Mill is a very fascinating place. The story itself is a good one. I never even thought about investigating there. I'm glad you brought it up. I'll have to head over there one of these days and see if I can find anything. If not, it's a beautiful park!

Marion I grew up in Western Springs :^:  You go past where you feed the ducks and head towards Oakbrook on that road (I think it is Spring) and then there is a road on your left and the Church would be on the west side of the street (on your right) behind the white church is the slave cemetery.  I would love to go back there but I need to get over my fear of that shadow I saw.  I would definitely go during the day though.

Ahhhhh!!!!! da Really?!?!?! Let's GO! I'm totally up for a daytime trip and I won't let you get freaked out. I'm good at making people laugh so they aren't so freaked out. You'll be safe with me.  :^:

I would suggest to call the Hinsdale Police before you go to let them know you are going.  I am not sure if I can make it or not but I will let you know for sure that week.  It is a very upity area and the homes are very close to the cemetery.

Upity! LOL I grew up in Hinsdale. I know exactly what you mean by upity. (Don't worry. I'm not a snob like 99.9% of the people who live there. I hate 'Hinsdalians'!)
All my life, I never knew there was a cemetery back there. emb Ok, who wants to be in charge of calling the po-po? :V: I don't like po-po. Especially Hinsdale po-po. They all have rods up their rears. ;)

Well, considering I just got back from California, I am sorry if I missed this trip.  Please let me know when the next one may be.  I am going back and forth from Alogonquin to Tennessee for the next 2 months but I would very muchlike to get out to Bachelors Grove one more time and Graue Mill as long as the police are called.  I will call them, I do not have a problem with that.  They can kiss my you know what if they have issues because it is open to the general public and there is no sign saying when it closes each day.  It is merely a courtesy call to them which is how I will phrase it.

After Tots for tots (black tie we have every year at Cafe Le Cave 1st Thurs of December --- nice plug huh?) I will be permanently moving to TN. :^(

Didn't go. But that's ok. I spent some quality time with my husband and daughter. Maybe we can reschedule this trip for another time. I'm not available next weekend (18th). I'll be out of town with my husband celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary. :^:
